MUSE – Multi-Service Everywhere is an Integrated Project started from the 1st Call on Broadband for All of FP6 IST. It has 39 partners, among which all the major operator and industrial players in Western Europe. MUSE is led by Alcatel (B). Two of the project’s partners are from a NMS: Budapest University (Hungary), and Ericsson Magyarorszag (Hungary). The overall objective of MUSE (FP6 IST 507295) is the research and development of a future low cost, full service access and edge network, which enables the ubiquitous delivery of broadband services to every European citizen. The project integrates studies in the following areas: The concepts of MUSE will be validated for three end-to-end deployment scenarios, such as The expected impact and results can be summarized as building a consensus about the future access and edge network by major operators and vendors in Europe, the pre-standardisation work and joined position in standardisation bodies and a proof of concept demonstrators and lab trials by operators.
TUE is one of the 8 academic and research institute partners, and is actually co-chairing the interests of these partners. The access technologies being explored and the related standardization and consensus-building work are expected to be of high value for dissemination in BReATH to the NMS and ACC. Reversely, inputs from BReATH will widen the platform for roll-out of MUSE’s results.
